grotesque
grotesque is an eyewear design company specialised in “boredom-free” eyewear designs. The company has been founded 2002 in a small city in the south of Germany.
In a time where most of the “trendy” people are fashion victims, wearing clothes, accessoires and eyewear “designed” by a few big labels, it is almost impossible to find real orginality and independence.
grotesque company was founded to change that. Each style is a statement for uniqueness and originality. You can find the models only in the best optical shops worldwide.
Designed in Germany and produced from the finest manufacturers in and around Germany. All models are made in small series, frames for the individualists, not for the masses.
As a company with ethical responsibilities no animal products like leather or horn are used.
Beside the collections, design services are offered.
Who are the persons behind?
Daniel Benner and Daniela Beck, two young but already experienced opticians founded the company early 2002. After working in several optical shops before, they both realized that there’s nothing new and fresh in the eyewear market.
Showing their collections at the world’s biggest eyewear fair in Milan by just walking around and wearing them, they got great reactions both from visitors and other exhibitors. Six months later on the optical fair in Paris they realized their own stand. Getting their first customers around the world, grotesque|frame is growing continuesly and is already a well known brandname in the optical market.
Why has the name “grotesque” been chosen? “We wanted to have a name that stands out of the mudd of boring names in the eyewear business. “grotesque” means different, funny, bizarr, original, interesting. If you don’t see the sense of the word, you don’t have any humour at all” say the founders.
